CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2008 - 12 BY: Councilman Gareau A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE CITY'S CONTRACT WITH RICHARD L. BOWEN & ASSOCIATES, INC., AND DANIEL J. COLLINS, CITY ENGINEER, TO PROVIDE ENGINEERING CONSULTING SERVICES AUGMENTING AND ASSISTING THE CITY'S ENGINEERING DIVISION, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, this Council previously adopted Ordinance Number 2006-118 on May 16, 2006, authorizing the Director of Public Service to request proposals for engineering services, including the services of a City Engineer, to augment and assist the City's Division of Engineering; and WHEREAS, the Directar of Public Service conducted the said authorized RFP process and recommended to the Board of Control that it approve a contract with Richard L. Bowen & Associates Inc. and Daniel J. Collins, as the engineering firm and engineer most capable to perform the engineering services required at the most reasonable price; and WHEREAS, the City entered into a contract with Richard L. Bowen & Associates, Inc. and Daniel J. Collins, providing for the former to provide engineering consulting services to thP City and for the latter to serve as the City Engineer; and WHEREAS, this Council has since adopted two additional resolutions, Resolution Nos. 2007-62 and 2007-120, authorizing two extensions of the contract between the City and Richard L. Bowen & Associates, the latest such extension scheduled to end on January 28, 2008; and WHEREAS, this Council is presently reviewing a proposal from the Administration, set forth in Ordinance No. 2007-156 and Resolution No. 2007-157, to, respectively, reorganize the City's Divisions of Engineering and Building, and, in connection with such reorganization, to enter into a new contract with Richard L. Bowen & Associates to provide additional engineering services to the City; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council, while it continues to review the merits of the Administration's proposal, to authorize the Mayor to extend the current contract with Richard L. Bowen & Associates and Daniel J. Collins for an additional sixty (60) days, so that there is no gap in the providing of necessary engineering services to the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the Mayar be and he hereby is authorized to enter into a contract with Richard L. Bowen & Associates, Inc., and Daniel J. Collins, extending the current contract with each for an additional period of time to March 29, 2008.
