CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008 - 27 <br />By: Mayor O'Grady <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO ADVERTISE <br />FOR BIDS FOR ASPHALT RESURFACING ON CONCRETE STREETS AND ASPHALT <br />RECYCLING ON ASPHALT STREETS ALONG WITH RELATED CATCH BASIN, MANHOLE, <br />SIDEWALK AND CURBING REPAIRS AT VARIOIIS LOCATIONS IN THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED AS DETAILED IN THE SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE, FURTHER AUTHORIZING <br />THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER <br />FOR SAID REPAIRS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. AS AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Public Service has advised this Council that it is necessary to perform <br />asphalt resurfacing and asphalt recycling on concrete streets along with related catch basin, manhole, sidewalk <br />and curbing repairs at various locations in the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the necessary plans and specifications for said repairs, as prepared under the direction of the <br />Engin?ering Department of the City of North Olmsted, are on file in the Engineering Department; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Public Service to advertise for <br />bids for asphalt resurfacing and asphalt recycling along with related catch basin, manhole, sidewalk and curbing <br />repairs at various locations in the City, and to further authorize the Mayor to enter into a contract with the lowest <br />and best bidder to perform said repairs; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That the Director of Public Service be and he is hereby authorized to advertise for bids <br />for asphalt resurfacing and asphalt recycling along with related catch basin, manhole, sidewalk and curbing <br />repairs at various locations in the City of Narth Olmsted, in accardance with the plans and specifications now on <br />file in the Engineering Department, and further that, upon approval by the Board of Control, the Mayor is <br />authorized to enter into a contract and execute the same on behalf of the City of North Olmsted with the lowest <br />and best bidder. <br />SECTION 2: <br />?ded 4;ar by iaw. That this Resolution is herebv declared to be an emergencv measure <br />immediatelv necessarv for the preservation of the public peace, health, safetv and welfare of this <br />Citv, and for the further reason that it is necessarv that this le2islation 2o into effect immediately <br />so that competitive biddinL for this necessarv public work mav be implemented earlv in the vear <br />while most contractors still have bonding capacitv, thereby resultin2 in lower bids for the work <br />and saving the Citv tax dollars; and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds <br />of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and <br />approval by the Mavor. <br />
