CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008 - 40 <br />BY: Council Member Nicole Dailey Jones <br />A RESOL UTION PROCLAIMING APRIL AS FAIR HOUSING MONTH IN <br />NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted actively, creatively and affirmatively promotes <br />fair housing in its policies and practices; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council wishes to reaffirm and support the constitutional right of all <br />citizens, regardless of race, religion, sex, national origin, handicap, or familial status to enjoy <br />equal access to housing and to reside in communities that provide integrated and balanced living <br />patterns; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council wishes to support the work of the Fair Housing Review Board <br />and the work the Board does to educate our community about fair housing issues. <br />NO W THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED B Y THE CO UNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: This Council hereby designates April as Fair Housing Month in the City of <br />North Olmsted, and reaffirms its commitment to the principles guaranteed under the F'air <br />Housing Act. <br />SECTION 2: This Council hereby joins the rest of the nation in rededicating itself to <br />combating unlawful housing discrimination and encouraging the development of balanced <br />residential living patterns, both in the greater Cleveland area and throughout the country. <br />SECTION 3: The Clerk of Council is hereby directed to forward a copy of this <br />Resolution to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. <br />SECTION 4: That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the <br />earliest period, ovided for by law. <br />f ; <br />PASSED: 44t44 First Reading <br />Second Reading: <br />Third Readir, <br />/ 6?4 <br />Committee: <br />ATTFaST: <br />1RBARA L.
