*1 <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008 - 53 <br />BY: Mayor O'Grady and Councilman Barker <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE <br />TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NORTH <br />OLMSTED BRANCH LIBRARY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT, FURTHER <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR SAID <br />CONSTRUCTION WITH THE LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER, SUBJECT TO <br />APPROVAL BY THE BOARD OF CONTROL, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY, AS AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, the Cuyahoga County Public Library ("CCPL"), in conjunction with North <br />Olmsted City officials, has proposed certain improvements to the City's branch library ("North <br />Olmsted Branch Library Improvements"); and <br />WHEREAS, this Council previously adopted Ordinance 2007-99, authorizing the Mayor <br />to enter into an agreement with R.GU Architects, Inc. ("RCU") for the purpose of providing <br />architectural design services for the North Olmsted Branch Library Improvements; and <br />WHEREAS, plans and specifications for the North Olmsted Branch Library <br />Improvements, in accordance with the authorization contained in Ordinance 2007-99, have been <br />prepared by RCU and are now on file in the office of the Director of Public Service; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Public Service to <br />advertise for bids for the construction of the North Olmsted Branch Library Improvements, and, <br />to further authorize the Mayor, upon approval of the Board of Control, to enter into a contract for <br />said construction with the lowest and best bidder; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Service be and he is hereby authorized to <br />advertise for bids for the construction of the North Olmsted Branch Library Improvements in <br />accordance with the plans and specifications now on file in his office (except as provided below), <br />and that further, upon approval by the Board of Control, the Mayor be and is hereby authorized <br />to enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder for the construction of said improvements. <br />The bid documents shall in addition include a notice to all bidders that prices for the construction <br />of the drive through window and the detached structure for storage shall be bid senaratel_; as <br />alternates for the proiect The Board of Control shall not award and the Mayor shall not enter <br />into a contract including the said alternates without further express authorization bv this Council. <br />SECTION 2: That sufficient funds for the construction of the said improvements remam <br />in the Library Construction Fund, and all costs of construction associated with said <br />improvements shall be paid out of the Library Construction :Fund.
