10.4 All vacation time shall be paid at the regular wage rate, except when employee <br />requests vacation credit accumulation. For the purpose of calculating vacation pay, when <br />.vacation accumulation is requested by an employee, the wage rate at the time the vacation was <br />requested to be accumulated sha11 be used to calculate vacation pay. If due to scheduling, <br />vacations cannot be taken subsequent to the year such vacation was eamed and are accumuiated <br />and taken in the next subsequent year, the rate of vacation pay shall be at the rate of pay during <br />the year such vacation is taken, provided the same is approved by the Department Head. <br />10.5 Vacations must be scheduled with and authorized by the Chief of Police or his <br />designee. Schedules are to be coordinated so as not to disrupt necessary City services or functions <br />of the department. <br />10.6. If an employee is terminated (voluntarily or involuntarily) prior to taking his <br />? <br />vacation and has completed one (1) year of employment with the City, he shall receive the <br />prorated portion of any accrued but unused vacation at the time of separation. In case of death of <br />an employee, the unused vacation leave sha11 be paid to the estate. <br />10.7. A) An employee may have the option of using a gersonal day as a day of extended <br />vacation, with prior approval of the Chief of Police or his designee. <br />B) An employee may have the option af using one week of his vacation in increments of <br />less than one week; for example, one or two days at a time. An employee will give the supervisor <br />at least forty-eight (48) hours advance notice in writing. In an emergency situation, verbal <br />communication with the supervisor is appropriate and may justify waiving advance notifzcation. <br /> <br />is <br />
