CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANACE NO. 2000-126 <br />BY: COUNCII.,MAN MCKAY <br />AN ORDINANACE ESTABLISHING AND FIXING THE <br />COMPENSATION FOR THE WARD COUNCIL MEMBERS OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED FOR THE TERM OF OFFICE <br />COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 2002 AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2005 <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AS AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of North Olmsted, at Article IV, Section 6, <br />requires the Council to fix the compensation for all elected officials at least thirty (30) <br />days prior to the filing date of nominating petitions for terms beginning on the next <br />succeeding 1't day of January; and <br />WHEREAS, the date for filing nominating petitions for elected officials in the <br />City ofNorth Olmsted, is March 9, 2001; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to establish the compensation for all <br />elected officials in compliance with the Charter requirements. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the salary to be paid to the Ward Council Members for the <br />term commencing January l, 2002 and ending December 31, 2005, shall be as follows: <br />Effective January 1, 2002 through December 31, 2002 -$10,781 <br />Effective January 1, 2003 through December 31, 2003 -$11,104 <br />Effective January 1, 2004 through December 31, 2004 -$11,438 <br />Effective January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2005 -$11,781 <br />SECTION 2: That the compensation as specified in Section 1 hereof are being <br />established only for the purpose of complying with the Charter requirements as outlined <br />in Article IV, Section 6, and in no way affect any of the other provisions of any ordinance <br />relating to the organizational chart of either administrative or legislative officers. <br />SECTION 3: That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and <br />for the further reason that it is immediately necessary to comply with the requirements of <br />the Charter of the City of North Olmsted regarding the establishment of salaries at least <br />thirty (30) days prior to the filing of nominating petitions, and further provided it receives <br />the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in <br />force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
