CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANACE NO. 2000-125 BY: COUNCILMAN MCKAY AN ORDINANACE ESTABLISHING AND FIXING THE COMPENSATION FOR THE PRESIDENT OF COUNCII. OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED FOR THE TERM OF OFFICE COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 2002 AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2005 AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY A5 AMENDED. WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of North Olmsted, at Article IV, Section 6, requires the Council to fix the compensation for all elected officials at least thirty (30) days prior to the filing date of nominating petitions for terms beginning on the next succeeding 1't day of January; and WHEREAS, the date for filing nominating petitions for elected officials in the City of North Olmsted, is March 9, 2001; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to establish the compensation for all elected officials in compliance with the Charter requirements. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCII. OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the salary to be paid to the President of Council for the term commencing 7anuary 1, 2002 and ending December 31, 2005, shall be as follows: Effective January l, 2002 through December 31, 2002 -$11,361 Effective January 1, 2003 through December 31, 2003 -$11,702 Effective January 1, 2004 through December 31, 2004 -$12,053 Effective January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2005 -$12,414 SECTION 2: That the compensation as specified in Section 1 hereof are being established only for the purpose of complying with the Charter requirements as outlined in Article IV, Section 6, and in no way affect any of the other provisions of any ordinance relating to the organizational chart of either administrative or legislative officers. SECTION 3: That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the further reason that it is immediately necessary to comply with the requirements of the Charter of the City of North Olmsted regarding the establishment of salaries at least thirty (30) days prior to the filing of nominating petitions, and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
