<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000-124 <br />BY: MAYOR MUSIAL and ALL MEMBERS OF COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION DECLARING <br />NOVEMBER 11, 2000 "VETERANS DAY" <br />WHEREAS, on the first anniversary of the truce of World War I, President Woodrow Wilson issued <br />a proclamation in 1919 eulogizing fallen Allied soldiers and referred to November 11'has Armistice <br />Day. This day became a day of remembrance in the United States, France, Great Britain and Canada; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Veterans Day acquired its present identification and broadened significance in the <br />United States in 1954; and <br />WHEREAS, Veterans Day is a day of remembrance observed annually in the United States in honor <br />of those living and dead, who served with the United States armed forces in wartime; and <br />WHEREAS, there are many veterans we must remember going all the way back to the earliest days <br />of the United States of America. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1. That this Mayor and City Council recognize the sacrifices that veterans have made <br />to the United States of America, ensuring freedom for all Americans and therefore, does adopt and <br />declare November 11, 2000, as "Veterans Day" in North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />SECTION 2. That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately <br />necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further provided it receives <br />the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon?s passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PAS SED: <br />? <br />ATT Ba ara L.
