CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000-106 <br />BY: Mayor Norman T. Musial <br />A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR A TRANSIT CENTER PROJECT OF THE <br />GREATER CLEVELAND REGIONAL TRANSIT AUTHORITY AND DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, The Transportation Review Advisory Committee (TRAC) of the <br />Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) annually reviews applications for thousands <br />of dollars of vital improvements to communities throughout the state; and <br />WHEREAS, The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) has <br />applied to the Transportation Review Advisory Committee for help in financing a much- <br />needed transit center in the City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, This transit center will include a large Park-N-Ride component to <br />serve the commercial center of North Olmsted. It will provide express commuter service <br />to downtown Cleveland, as well as a hub for community circulation of local bus service; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, The Transportation Review Advisory Committee has asked that city <br />councils in all communities impacted by applications now being considered submit <br />resolutions of support by September 1, 2000. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor and Council of the city of North Olmsted does <br />hereby approve this Resolution of strong support for a transit center project now being <br />planned by the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority. <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor and the Council of the City of North Olmsted urge <br />members of the Transportation Review Advisory Committee to give serious consideration <br />to the application for the transit center, and approve the maximum amount of funding <br />available. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare <br />of the residents of the City of North Olmsted and for the reason that it is necessary that <br />this Resolution immediately go into effect so that it may submitted to the Transportation <br />Review Advisory Committee by September 1, 2000. <br />
