<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000-70 <br />BY: COUNCILMEMBER KASLER <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF HUMAN <br />RESOURCES TO SOLICIT PROPOSALS FOR AN ASSESSMENT OF <br />AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIE5 ACT (ADA) COMPLIANCE NEEDS <br />THROUGHOUT ALL CITY-OWNED FACILITIES, AND DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City has recently addressed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) <br />needs in certain city-owned facilities; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to insure that the City is in compliance with <br />ADA requirements in all city-owned facilities; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council, therefore, desires to authorize the Director of Human <br />Resources to solicit proposals from firms qualified to do ADA assessments for the purpose of <br />conducting a city-wide inspection of all city-owned facilities; <br />NOW, THEREFOR, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Human Resources be and he is hereby authorized to <br />solicit proposals from qualified firms, by any method he deems administratively reasonable and <br />effective, to conduct an assessment of ADA compliance at all public buildings and other facilities <br />which are owned by the City of North Olmsted. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the <br />further reason that it is necessary that this Resolution becomes effective immediately so that any <br />violations of federal ADA law at city-owned facilities may be corrected at the earliest possible <br />date, and further provided that it receives an affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of <br />Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the <br />Mayor.
