<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000- 64 <br />BY: MAYOR NORMAN T. MUSIAL AND THE ENTIRE COUNCII, <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE NORTH OLMSTED HIGH <br />SCHOOL MARCHING BAND ON THEIR PLACEMENT OF FIFTH IN <br />THE CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL PARADE IN WASHINGTON, D.C. <br />WHEREAS, the North Olmsted High School Marching Band was chosen to <br />participate in the Cherry Blossom Festival on April 4-7, 2000 in Washington, D.C. and perform <br />their concert on the steps of the Capital; and, <br />WHEREAS, this was an honor for the 192 students that participated and represented <br />the City and School District of North Olmsted, Ohio; and, <br />WHEREAS, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity and experience for the students <br />in the North Olmsted High School Marching Band, culturally and musically. The City of North <br />Olmsted is fortunate to have such an elite group of dedicated young adults from the North <br />Olmsted High School Marching Band under the direction of Mr. John Kepperley; Assistant <br />Directors, Mr. William Chiabattari and Mr. Martin Witczak; drum major, Kevin Crowe; student <br />band president, 7ustine Jonas; the Eaglets and their advisor, Gina Caroccia; and the voice of the <br />Eagles, John Kleinhenz. <br />WHEREAS, the members of the North Olmsted Marching Band who attended the <br />Cherry Blossom Festival and the activities in Washington, D.C. sponsored by the Downtown <br />7aycees expressed themselves well and showcased their talents, which helps to built strong <br />connections for our youth. We commend them for their continued efforts to spread their music <br />and talents in our great City of North Olmsted and at the Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington, <br />D.C. These students were in the National spotlight and gave their school and the City of North <br />Olmsted national recognition throughout their performances and how they presented themselves <br />along with their placement of fifth in the parade competition. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THF <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION NO. 1: We do hereby commend and congratulate the North Olmsted <br />High School Marching Band on their participation and placement of fifth at the Cherry Blossom <br />Festival Parade in Washington, D.C. April 4 through April 7, 2000. All citizens are urged to <br />salute all of the students that participated in the Cherry Blossom Festival Parade along with the <br />following directors and supporters: Director Mr. John Kepperley; Assistant Directors Mr. <br />William Chiabattari and Mr. Martin Witczak; Eaglet Advisor Mrs. Gina Caroccia; the Eaglets; <br />John Kleinhenz, the voice of the Eagles; NOBBO Chairperson, Mary O'Neal; Kevin Crowe, drum <br />major; and Justine Jonas, student band president along all the parents and people who supported <br />the North Olmsted Band Boosters to enable the students to make the trip for this event. <br />SECTION NO. 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to <br />transmit a duplicate original of this Resolution to Norman T. Musial, Mayor of the City of North <br />Olmsted to be officially presented at The NOHS Marching Band Concert scheduled for May 18, <br />2000.
