?s <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000- 42 <br />BY: Mayor Norman T. Musial and the Entire City Council <br />A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT of MAY as MOTORCYCLE AWARENESS MONTH. <br />WHEREAS, Ohio is a national leader in motorcycle registrations and production. <br />Throughout our great state there are over 307,000 registered motorcyclists and numerous family <br />and friends an with interest in rider safety; and <br />WHEREAS, rider education programs in Ohio, with the support and cooperation of <br />motorcyclists and numerous motorcyclist's groups, have worked diligently to provide the citizens <br />of Ohio with the best of it's kind in the United States; and <br />WHEREAS, the work done by these organizations in promoting education, safety and <br />motorcycle awareness has made Ohio's highways a safer and more enjoyable place to ride; and <br />WHEREAS, with the warm weather of May and motorcyclists take to Ohio's roadways <br />in large numbers, public awareness and mutual respect among those who share Ohio's roads are <br />vital to accident reduction; and <br />WHEREAS, since the start of Motorcycle Awareness Month in 1986 car-motorcycle <br />accidents have been reduced by more than half; and <br />WHEREAS, Motorcycle Awareness Month is sponsored by ABATE/Concerned <br />Motorcycle Riders of Ohio, a state-wide non-profit organization dedicated to promoting rider <br />safety and education, addressing legislative concerns and supporting charitable efforts in Greater <br />Cleveland and surrounding Ohio communities. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA and STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That we do hereby designate the month of MAY as <br />MOTORCYCLE AWARENESS MONTH in the City of North Olmsted and urge all citizens to <br />use extra caution when driving to make our roads safe for all. <br />SECTION 2: That public awareness and mutual respect among those who share <br />Ohio's roads are vital to accident reduction. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall become effective and be in force from <br />and after the earliest period allowed by law. <br />PASSED: First Reading: .3? a- o U <br />Second Reading: <br />Third Reading: <br />ATT? <br />Blrbara L.
