CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 99-154 <br />BY: Mayor Norman T. Musial and All of Council <br />A RESOLUTION DECLARING NOVEMBER 11, 1999 "VETERANS DAY". <br />WHEREAS, persons in the Armed Services of the United States that served our country <br />and are veterans because of such services; and <br />WHEREAS, on the first anniversary of the truce, U. S. President Woodrow Wilson issued <br />a proclamation eulogizing fallen Allied soldiers and he referred to November 11"' as Armistice <br />Day also known as Veteran's Day. This day became a holiday in the United States, France, Great <br />Britain and Canada; and <br />WHEREAS, there are many veterans that we must remember from the Revolution to the <br />Persian Gulf; and <br />WHEREAS, November 11, 1999 has been declared as "Veterans Day" by Presidential <br />Proclamation to honor our veterans. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA and STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Administration and City Council recognizes the sacrifices that the <br />veterans made to the United State of America, ensuring freedom for all Americans and therefore, <br />does adopt and declare November 11, 1999, as VETERANS DAY in North Olmsted. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is declared to be an emergency measure immediately <br />necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of the Council, it shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: ?^-?? ?l ??l t y <br /> <br />e? • ? <br />B'ar_bara L.
