<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 99-147 <br />BY: MAYOR MUSIAL <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1901, ENTITLED <br />"FAIR HOIISING CODE" OF THE CODIFIED <br />ORDINANCES, IN ORDER TO OBTAIN SUBSTANTIAL <br />EQUIVALENCE WITH FEDERAL LAW. <br />WHEREAS, this Council, on September <br />provided for the creation of Chapter 1901 of t: <br />"Fair Housing Code;" and <br />17, 1996, adopted Ordinance No. 96-154, which <br />e North Olmsted Codified Ordinances, entitled <br />WHEREAS, thereafter the City submitted a copy of said Ordinance No. 96-154 to the <br />U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the purpose of obtaining a ruling that <br />said legislation was substantially equivalent to Title VIII of the 1968 Civil Rights Act, as <br />amended, known as the "Fair Housing Act;" and <br />WHEREAS, the City was subsequently advised by the U.S. Department of Housing and <br />Urban Development that certain changes should be made to Ordinance No. 96-154; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council, on September 1, 1998, adopted Ordinance No. 98-85, which <br />substantially altered Chapter 1901 of the North Olmsted Codified Ordinances, entitled "Fair <br />Housing Code," in order to comply more closely to the Fair Housing Act; and <br />WHEREAS, thereafter the City submitted a copy of its revised Chapter 1901 to the U. S. <br />Department of Housing and Urban Development for the purpose of obtaining a ruling that said <br />legislation was substantially equivalent to the Fair Housing Act; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council desires to incorporate the federal government's final suggested <br />changes in Chapter 1901, in order to obtain a final ruling that the City's Fair Housing Code is <br />substantially equivalent to federal law; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That Section 1901.05, which currently reads as follows: <br />
