r <br /> <br />CHAPTER 177 <br />DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING <br />177.01 Establishment <br />177.02 Director of Planning <br />177.01 ESTABLISHVVIENT. <br />Pursuant to the authority of the Charter, Article V Section 1, there is hereby established <br />the Department of Planning. <br />177.02 DIRECTOR OF PLANNING. <br />The Department of Planning shall be headed by the Director of Planning who shall be <br />responsible for the administration and implementation of plans and progams for the <br />comprehensive and orderly development of the City. The Director shall be responsible for the <br />development, maintenance, periodic update and administration of the City's Master Plan, <br />Planning and Platting Code and Zoning Code. The Director shall provide guidance to the <br />Mayor, Council, boards and commissions regarding the future public and private development <br />within the City: <br />(a) The Director shall be a fizll-time employee appointed by the Mayor subject to <br />confirmation by the Council. The Director shall have a Bachelor or Masters <br />Degree in City Planning, Urban Studies or related field, with at least five two <br />years experience in the City Planning and Zoning Administration and shall be a <br />member in good standing of the American Institute of Certified Planners. <br />(b) The Director shall work forty hours per week at times designated by the Mayor <br />and shall work at City Hall unless the job requirements require his attendance at a <br />place other than City Hall. <br />(c) The Director shall coordinate and assist in interdepartmental review of <br />subdivision and development plans with the Directors of other affected <br />Departments. The Director shall review all plans submitted to the Department, <br />conduct conferences with owners or developers and necessary department heads <br />before presentation to the Planning Commission to ascertain if such plats and/or <br />plans comply with all relevant City ordinances and that all necessary plans, plats <br />and other documents required by the City Platting and Zoning Code, and any <br />other applicable codes, are presented to the Planning Commission. The Director <br />shall attend all regular and special meetings of the Planning Commission and shall <br />review and make recommendations concerning all matters submitted for the <br />consideration of such Commission. The Director shall attend such meetings of <br />Council and such other committees, boards and commissions as deemed <br />necessary and desirable by the Mayor or Council. <br />
