CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 99-78 <br />BY: COUNCILWOMAN KASLER <br />A RESOLUTION OPPOSING HOUSE BILL NO. 175 WHICH <br />WOULD RESULT IN LESS JOB STABILITY AND REDUCED <br />BENEFITS FOR WORKING MEN AND WOMEN. <br />WHEREAS, House Bill No. 175 would diminish the ability of working men and women <br />to work in safe conditions and get paid fair wages; and, <br />WHEREAS, it would remove any requirement under the Public Employees Collective <br />Bargaining Law that public employees join or pay dues to any employee organization; and, <br />WHEREAS, it would prohibit any requirement that employees of private employers join <br />or pay dues to any employee organization; and, <br />WHEREAS, it would establish civil and criminal penalties against private employers <br />who violate those prohibitions; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council hereby opposes House Bill No. 175 which would result <br />in less job stability and reduced benefits for working men and women. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to forward a <br />certified copy of this Resolution to Ohio State Senator Robert Spada, Ohio State Representative <br />Sally Conway Kilbane and Governor Robert Taft. <br />SECTION 3: That it is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council <br />concerning and relating to the adoption of this Resolution were adopted in an open meeting of <br />this Council, and that all deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in <br />such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal <br />requirements. <br />
