_.,
?
?i
?i

A. PRUJECT APPROACH

For background plans, we will use the plan sheets which were developed for use on the Brookpark
Road resurfaeing projects, editing the information to reflect the final condition of the roadway at the
time af the new sidewalk construction. We will also use the intersection details wluch were
developed for the resurfa.cing projects, since they show the locations of the pedestrians crossings and
will allow to show the details for sidewalk and curb ramps at the intersecting streets, along with any
addition of pedestrian signals.
We will need to obtain additional survey information in order to complement the information shown
on the plans. This information will generally consist of the following:
Spot elevations to review the prafile along the locarion of the proposed sidewalks to ensure
that there are no abrupt changes in grade and that the slopes do not exceed ADA criteria.
2. Topographic features along the proposed sidewalk location, such as trees, fencing, poles, guy
anchors, etc.
3. Cross sections at criticallocations.
We will address the elements itemized in the Request for Proposal dated May 18, 1999.
At the I-480 bridge, we will review various possible solutions with the City priorto preparing detailed
construction documents. From our site visit, we believe the sidewalk can be constructed between the
guardrail and the piers along the south side of road, and behind the piers on the north side. This
would require some modifications to the drainage. If a more detailed review reveals that an
alternative involving low retaining walls or structural slabs is desirable, the cost for this type of design
is not included in the current proposal.
The deliverables to the City will consist of one set of mylar plans, one copy of the Detailed
Specifications, one eopy of the Bid Form, and a Construction Cost Estimate.
The work will be coordinated with utility owners, and one set of final plans will be sent to each.
