<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 99-59 <br />BY: MAYOR AND ENTIRE COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTIONDECLARING MAY 9-15, 1999, AS PRESERYATION WEEK, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, historic preservation is an effective tool for managing growth, revitalizing <br />neighborhoods, fostering local pride and maintaining community character while enhancing livability; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, historic preservation is relevant for communities across the nation, both urban <br />and rural, and for Americans of all ages, all walks of life and all ethnic backgrounds; and <br />WHEREAS, it is important to celebrate the role of history in our lives and the <br />contributions made by dedicated individuals in helping to preserve the tangible aspects of the <br />heritage that has shaped us as a people; and <br />WHEREAS, "Protecting the Irreplaceable" is the Theme for National Preservation Week <br />1999, cosponsored by the Ohio Historical Society and the National Trust for Historic <br />Preservation. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That May 9-15, 1999, shall be observed by the City of North Olmsted, and its <br />residents and business owners, as Preservation Week. <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor and this Council call upon the residents and business owners <br />of this City to join their fellow citizens across the United States in recognizing and participating in <br />this special observance. <br />SECTION 3: That the Clerk of this Council be directed to send a copy of the Resolution to <br />all newspapers with general circulation in the City of North Olmsted and arrange for the Resolution <br />passage to be advertised on the City's community cable channel. <br />
