CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 99-53 BY: THE MAYOR AND THE ENTIRE COUNCIL A RE50LUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY BRYAN MACHALA OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized Scouting; and WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, both the youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that a11 citizens should strive for; and WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that he earns the rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and WHEREAS, BRYAN MACHALA began Scouting as a Tiger Cub in Pack 889, transferred to Pack 53 where he continued through the Cub Scout program earning all twenty Webelos activity pins and the Arrow of Light Award and joined Boy Scout Troop 201 in 1992; and as a member of Troop 201 has served his fellow Scouts as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader and Quartermaster; participated in numerous Scouting activities including the 1997 Boy Scout National Jamboree at Fort A. P. Hill, Virginia, Troop 201 1996 High Adventure Canoe Trip in New York's Adirondacks, whitewater rafting, cave camping, backpacking, the annual Polar Bear campouts and is looking forward to the Troop's June trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico; has earned his Five Year Pipestone from Seven Ranges summer camp; was honored by his fellow Scouts by voting him into the Order of the Arrow where he is now a Brotherhood Member; and WHEREAS, BRYAN'S Eagle Project was to clear and repair the trail around Bunn's Lake in the Bradley Woods section of the Cleveland Metroparks; and WHEREAS, BRYAN MACHALA, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award earned twenty- one Merit Badges; and WHEREAS, while undertaking all of these Scouting projects, BRYAN assisted at Birch Kindergarten and is currently a volunteer at the Great Lakes Science Center; participated in school activities including serving as co-captain of the boys' swim team for the 1998-99 season and is a four-year letterman in swimming; has been a member of the North Olmsted Recreation Summer Swim Team for 10 yeaxs and has worked as a lifeguard at the North Olmsted Recreation Center for two years; is a senior at North Olmsted High School where he is a member of the SITES program and next year plans to study photojournalism at Ohio University; and W-BEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by BRYAN MACHALA is a noteworthy accomplishment deserving of the congratulations of the entire community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCII, OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: ' SECTION 1: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest congratulations to BRYAN MACHALA on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout.
