<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 99-48 <br />BY: COUNCILMAN MCKAY <br />A RESOL UTION REQUESTING THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION (ODOT) TO EXTEND GREAT NORTHERN <br />BOULEVARD NORTH TO COLUMBIA ROAD AT THE WESTI AKE CITY <br />LINE TO FO UR LANES AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AS <br />AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, it was originally proposed to make Great Northern Boulevard a four-lane <br />road north to Interstate-90; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Westlake is requesting that the Ohio Department of <br />Transportation (ODOT) widen Columbia Road in Westlake from two lanes to four lanes from <br />Center Ridge road north to the Bay Village city line; and <br />WHEREAS, it would be in the best interest of the residents of this City and all other <br />motorists traveling north and south on Columbia Road between Interstate-480 and Interstate-90 <br />to widen and extend Great Northern Boulevard north at Lorain Road to the Westlake City line; <br />WHEREAS, providing for a four-lane north/south Great Northern Boulevard/Columbia <br />Road corridor from Interstate-480 to Interstate-90 would improve the flow of tra.ffic and relieve <br />traffic congestion; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Council of the City of North Olmsted hereby resolves to request <br />that the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) extend Great Northern Boulevard with a <br />four-lane road north from its present terminus at Lorain Road to Columbia Road at the Westlake <br />city line. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of this Council is hereby directed to forward a copy of this <br />Resolution, immediately upon its passage and approval, to the Ohio Department of Transportation <br />(ODOT). <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further <br />provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take <br />effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
