? .. ? <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 99 - 46 <br />BY: MAYOR NORMAN T. MUSIAL AND ALL MEMBERS OF COUNCII, <br />A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE WEEK OF <br />APRIL 4TH, 1999 INTERNATIONAL BUILDING SAFETY WEEK. <br />WHEREAS the safety of the buildings we occupy daily is essential to the health, safety and welfare of the <br />citizens of the world and here in North Olmsted, Ohio; and <br />WHEREAS, among the world's most fundamental laws are those which provide safety standards for the <br />construction of buildings in which people live, work and play; and <br />WHEREAS, for construction and building codes to be effective and enforced, understanding and <br />cooperation must exist between code officials and the people they serve; and <br />WHEREAS, through the efforts of code officials worldwide and here in the City of North Olmsted, and <br />their cooperative relationship with the construction industry, the administration of these health and life- <br />safety standards is assured; and <br />WHEREAS, units of government across the world and here in the City of North Olmsted, along with such <br />prestigious organizations as Building Officials & Code Administrators (BOCA) International, Inc., <br />International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO), Southern Building Code Congress International <br />(SBCCI), Inc., the Council of American Building Officials (CABO), the National Conference of States on <br />Building Codes and Standards (NCSBCS) and the World Organization of Building Officials (WOBO) - <br />are joining to promote the use of building and construction codes today, for a lifetime of building safety, <br />through the observation of International Building Safety Week; and <br />WHEREAS, the theme of International Building Safety Week 1999 has been established as "FOR A <br />SAFER TONIMORROW". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION NO. 1: That the week of April 4-10, 1999, shall be known as INTERNATIONAL <br />BUII,DING SAFETY WEEK. All citizens are urged to help promote building safety, to create awareness <br />as to the importance of construction and building codes, and to spotlight the role of the North Olmsted <br />Building Department in administering those codes. <br />SECTION NO. 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy of <br />this Resolu 'o to the BUILDING DEPARTMENT of the City of North Olmsted. <br />PASSED: <br />? <br />i <br />Attest: ?L?-ct ?--- ?• <br />arbara L.
