CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 99-13 <br />BY: COUNCILMAN D'GRADY <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIDN 2 OF ORDINANCE <br />98-32 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING RATES <br />OF COMPENSATION FOR VARIOUS ADMINISTRATIVE AND <br />LEGISLATIVE PERSONNEL, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. " BY PROVIDING FOR THE ELIMINATION OF <br />THE POSITION OF LAW CLERK IN THE DEPARTMENT OF <br />LAW AND ESTABLISHING A PART-TIME CIVIL ASSISTANT, <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, heretofore the Law Department has successfully operated with the use of law <br />students who have acted as law clerks performing such tasks as doing legal research and filing of <br />documents on behalf of the City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, due to the press of litigation and the absence of the Director of Law due to <br />a surgical procedure, it is the recommendation of the Director vf L,aw that the positions of law <br />clerk be eliminated in favor of creating a second Civil Assistant position; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council in Ordinance No. 12, which is a companion <br />to this Ordinance, to provide for efficient and continuous service within the Law Department by <br />adding a second Civil Assistant to assist the Director of Law in legal matters involving the City, <br />and eliminating the positions of law clerk; and <br />WHEREAS, it is further the desire of this Council to establish a rate of compensation for <br />the year 1999 for the second Civil Assistant position, and to remove the rate of compensation <br />range for the eliminated positions of law clerk; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, CUYf1HOGA CDUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That Section 2 of Ordinance 98-32, which currently reads as follows: <br />"SECTION 2: That the following salary ranges are hereby established for employees of <br />the Department of Law. The salaries specified in this section shall be determined by the Director <br />of Law as appropriate. <br />
