CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 99-8 <br />BY: THE MAYOR AND THE ENTIlZE COUNCII., <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY <br />RYAN HUMPHRIES <br />OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication <br />to organized Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those <br />participating in Scouting, both the youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the <br />community and the Natian, and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout Oath and the Scout Law are <br />commitments that all citizens should strive for; and <br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an <br />extent that he earns the rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and <br />WHEREAS, RYAN HLTMPHRIES, as a member of Boy Scout Troop 664 has served his <br />fellow Scouts as a Troop Guide, Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol <br />Leader and Quartermaster, worked on the staff at Beaumont Scout Reservation during 1997, was <br />elected to the Order of the Arrow Brotherhood by his fellow Scouts, was chosen as an Honorary <br />Council Member for the City of North Olmsted during the 1997 and 1998 All Scouts Weekend <br />and participated in numerous summer camps, weekend campouts and canoe trips; and <br />WHEREAS, RYAN HCTMPHRIES, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award earned twenty- <br />three Merit Badges; and <br />WHEREAS, wlule RYAN was undertaking all these Scouting projects, he also <br />participated in numerous activities including football, wrestling, weight training, North Olmsted <br />High School Orchestra, Chess Club, Ballroom Dance Club, Computer Club, Teen Institute and <br />was a member ofthe S.I.T.E.S. program, and <br />WHEREAS, RYAN has been a volunteer blood donor for the Red Cross and has <br />volunteered his time to numerous activities including Coats for Kids and the Westlake <br />Developmental Center and is a member of Knights of Templar, and <br />WHEREAS, RYAN is planning to attend college and study to become a special education <br />teacher or a physical therapist; and <br />WHEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by RYAN HUMPHRIES is a <br />noteworthy accomplishment deserving of the congratulations of the entire community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest <br />congratulations to RYAN HLJMPHRIES on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy <br />of this Resolution to RYAN HUMPHRIES. <br />Passed:? <br />v' <br />r <br />Attest: <br />f ?????(,?., ? ?
