<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2003 -181 <br />BY: Mayor Musial <br />? <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PERSONNEL AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES TO SOLICIT <br />PROPOSALS FOR AND TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER <br />INTO A CONTRACT FOR THE RENEWAL OF LIFE INSURANCE <br />COVERAGE FOR POLICE OFFICERS IN THE LINE OF DUTY, <br />SUBJECT TO APPROYAL BY THE BOARD OF CONTROL, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City has, by and through its Collective Bargaining Agreement <br />with the Fraternal Order of Police, Western Lodge No. 25, ageed to provide, at the <br />City's expense, $50,000 in life insurance for North Olmsted police officers who may be <br />killed in the line of duty (CBA Article 12, Section 12.8); and <br />WHEREAS, the City has an obligation to renew the aforesaid policy before the <br />years end and, accordingly, the Director of Personnel and Administrative Services has <br />solicited proposals from life insurance companies to renew or maintain such policies <br />without interruption, estimated at an annual cost of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00); <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council, based on the recommendation of the <br />Director of Personnel and Administrative Services, to provide for the renewal or purchase <br />of said life insurance and to further authorize the Mayor, upon approval of the Board of <br />Control, to enter into an agreement or agreements for the renewal or purchase of said life <br />insurance package with the lowest and best bidder; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Personnel and Administrative Services be and <br />she is hereby authorized to solicit proposals for the renewal or purchase of Life Insurance <br />for Police Officers killed in the Line of Duty, providing a death benefit in the amount of <br />$50,000.00, as a package, and in accordance with the requirements of the FOP Collective <br />Bargaining Ageement with the City, and that, upon approval by the Board of Control, <br />that the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement or agreements with the <br />lowest and best bidder for said life insurance coverage package. <br />SECTION 2: That there are sufficient funds for this expenditure, estimated to be <br />in amount of $5,000.00 per year, appropriated for and allocated to the North Olmsted <br />Police Department for 2004. <br />,
