CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2003 - 179 <br />BY: Mayor Musial. <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A <br />CONTRACT WITH T-MOBILE TO PROVIDE MOBILE DATA <br />COMPUTER INFORMATION SERVICE TO THE NORTH <br />OLMSTED POLICE DEPARTMENT AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, in order to provide the Police Department with state of the art <br />mobile data capability, and to increase officer safety and service to the public, the Police <br />Department has found it necessary to change mobile data provider service; and <br />WHEREAS, following review of competitive service providers by the North <br />Olmsted Police Department, T-Mobile service will be at a lower cost to the City and <br />allow expansion of their mobile data terminals (MDT) in the future; and <br />R'HEREAS, in order to maintain uninterrupted NIDT services, it is the desire of <br />Council to exempt this contract from the RFP or other process and to authorize same as <br />an emergency; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to so authorize the Mayor to execute a <br />contract with T-Mobile to provide mobile data computer information service. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OffiU: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and he hereby is authorized to execute a <br />contract with T-Mobile, subject to the review and approval of the Board of Control, if <br />necessary, to provide mobile data computer information service to the Police Department. <br />The contract shall be substantially in the form of the proposed contract attached to this <br />Ordinance as Exhibit A. <br />SECTION 2: That there are sufficient funds appropriated for Safety Department <br />operations to provide for this contract expenditure in the year 2004, in an amount not <br />greater than Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00). <br />SECTION 3: That this contract be and hereby is exempt from bidding or RFP <br />process due to the North Olmsted Police Depa.rtment's need to maintain uninterrupted <br />service for its NIDT capability in police cruisers and accordingly shall be exempted as an <br />emergency. <br />
