CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2003-152 <br />BY: TI-E MAYOR AND THE ENTIRE CTTY COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY <br />AARON DAVID MACHALA <br />OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING <br />WHEREAS, this Council and Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, both the <br />youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout <br />Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that all citizens should strive for; and <br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that he eams the <br />rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and <br />WHEREAS, AARON DAVID MACHALA began his Scouting career in 1992 when he became a Bobcat with <br />North Olmsted Pack 53; and, as a Webelos Scout, he earned a11 twenty activity pins and the Arrow of Light Award, which <br />is the highest award in Cub Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, since joining Troop 201, AARON has served in several leadership positions including Senior Patrol <br />Leader and Troop Guide; and <br />WHEREAS, throughout his Scouting career, AARON has been an active participant of Troop 201 and has <br />attended Troop camping activities, including Philmont Scout Ranch, has earned his Fifth Year Pipestone Award, and he is <br />an Ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow. <br />WHEREAS, AARON, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award earned twenty-one Merit Badges; and <br />WHEREAS, AARON'S Eagle Scout Project was to build four fine motor skill boxes for North Olmsted Schools <br />to help handicapped students practice using everyday devices such as door locks, outlets, and plugs; and <br />WHEREAS, while undertaking a11 these Scouting projects, AARON, was a student at North Olmsted High School <br />where he was selected to be part of the SITES program, he completed five service hours weekly including volunteering at <br />the Metroparks Rocky River Nature Center, and he participated in a one-week group service project in the Nelsonville, <br />Ohio, area; and <br />WHEREAS, AARON was active in many school activities including serving as co-captain of the boys' high <br />school swim team and earning MVP for three years, playing percussion as a member of the High School marching band <br />and the wind ensemble, participating in the Thespian Club, participating in the National Young Leaders Conference in <br />Washington D.C. for an eleven day exploration of leadership, congressional and diplomatic relations. <br />WHEREAS, AARON is currently a college student studying biomedical engineering in preparation for work in a <br />medical field; and <br />WHEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by AARON DAVID MACHALA is a noteworthy <br />accomplishment deserving of the congratulations of the entire community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, <br />COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest congratulations to <br />AARON DAVID MACHALA on his aehievement of the rank of Eagle Scout. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to <br />AARON DAVID MACHALA. <br />Passed: C? <br />Att <br />?-a--+?-- <br />bara L.
