CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2003-152 BY: TI-E MAYOR AND THE ENTIRE CTTY COUNCIL A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY AARON DAVID MACHALA OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING WHEREAS, this Council and Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized Scouting; and WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, both the youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that all citizens should strive for; and WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that he eams the rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and WHEREAS, AARON DAVID MACHALA began his Scouting career in 1992 when he became a Bobcat with North Olmsted Pack 53; and, as a Webelos Scout, he earned a11 twenty activity pins and the Arrow of Light Award, which is the highest award in Cub Scouting; and WHEREAS, since joining Troop 201, AARON has served in several leadership positions including Senior Patrol Leader and Troop Guide; and WHEREAS, throughout his Scouting career, AARON has been an active participant of Troop 201 and has attended Troop camping activities, including Philmont Scout Ranch, has earned his Fifth Year Pipestone Award, and he is an Ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow. WHEREAS, AARON, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award earned twenty-one Merit Badges; and WHEREAS, AARON'S Eagle Scout Project was to build four fine motor skill boxes for North Olmsted Schools to help handicapped students practice using everyday devices such as door locks, outlets, and plugs; and WHEREAS, while undertaking a11 these Scouting projects, AARON, was a student at North Olmsted High School where he was selected to be part of the SITES program, he completed five service hours weekly including volunteering at the Metroparks Rocky River Nature Center, and he participated in a one-week group service project in the Nelsonville, Ohio, area; and WHEREAS, AARON was active in many school activities including serving as co-captain of the boys' high school swim team and earning MVP for three years, playing percussion as a member of the High School marching band and the wind ensemble, participating in the Thespian Club, participating in the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington D.C. for an eleven day exploration of leadership, congressional and diplomatic relations. WHEREAS, AARON is currently a college student studying biomedical engineering in preparation for work in a medical field; and WHEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by AARON DAVID MACHALA is a noteworthy accomplishment deserving of the congratulations of the entire community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest congratulations to AARON DAVID MACHALA on his aehievement of the rank of Eagle Scout.
