CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2003 - 89 <br />BY: Mayor Musial <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED TO ENTER INTO A RENEWAL AGREEMENT, <br />FOR A SEYEN-YEAR TERM, WITH SBC GLOBAL SERVICES, INC., <br />ON BEHALF OF THE OHIO BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY, <br />PROVIDING FOR CENTREX SERYICE TO THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCYAS AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, the City's current Agreement with SBC Global Services, Inc. ("SBC") that <br />provides centrex services to the City is due to expire on September 19, 2003; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Director of Finance that the City renew said <br />Agreement with SBC for an additional seven years in order to obtain the contract benefit of <br />reduced monthly service charges; and <br />WHEREAS, it is not necessary to competitively bid said contract because the <br />exgenditures pursuant to the proposed contract will not exceed $15,000.00; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to enter <br />intQ a contract with SBC to provide the described services to the City; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COIINTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1_ That the Mayor be and he hereby is authorized to enter into an agreement <br />with SBC Global Services, Inc., for a seven-year term, to provide centrex services to the City, <br />which shall be in the form and substance of the attached Agreement, marked as Exhibit A. <br />SECTION 2: That the City is not authorized to expend, pursuant to said Agreement, an <br />amount that exceeds $15,000.00. <br />SECTION 3_ That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the <br />further reason that it is necessary that this Resolution immediately go into effect because SBC <br />requires the contract 60 days before the termination date of the current agreement and City <br />Council will be on vacation during the month of July when said 60'h day prior occurs, and any <br />time gap in the renewal of this contract could jeopardize City communications, and further <br />provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the members of this Council, it shall <br />take effect and be in force immediately upon its approval by the Mayor. <br />ne?? ?., .?? .., . <..fi ."...
