<br />Resolution No. 2003-59 <br />Page 2 <br />WHEREAS, the ability of the Armed Forces to successfully perform their mission <br />requires the support of their nation, community, and families. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor and this Council recognizes the commitment and respects <br />the sacrifice of our men and women of the United States Armed Forces now serving in operation <br />Iraqi Freedom and putting their lives at risk in combat to protect this nation, and further the <br />Mayor and this Council proudly proclaim, on behalf of the citizens of the City of North Olmsted, <br />our undivided, unequivocal and total support for these brave soldiers, for their safety and <br />welfare, for their families and far the causes of peace, security and freedom; and <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to forward a <br />certified copy of this Resolution to the Honorable George Voinovich and the Honorable Michael <br />DeWine, both serving as Senators of the United States of America for the State of Ohio, and also <br />to the Honorable Dennis Kucinich, serving as Congressman of the United States of America, <br />forthwith and with appropriate explaflatory conespondence; and <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the <br />reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately due to the immediate <br />conflict in Iraq, a.nd further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members <br />of this Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by <br />the Mayor. <br />(.? ^ '? ?
