B - 14 (a) Continued <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: <br />• This position requires considerabie experience in performing construction, <br />maintenance and laboring tasks; graduation from a standard high school or <br />vocational school is a prerequisite of the classification. <br />• Considerable knowledge of tools, materials„ methods and modern techniques <br />commonly used in public works and utility construction and maintenance <br />activities. <br />• Considerable knowledge of hazards and safety precautions necessary in <br />construction and maintenance work. <br />• Ability to participate in the work of maintenance and performing varied tasks and <br />to obtain effective results. <br />• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees <br />and the general public. <br />• Physical strength and agility sufficient to do strenuous manual labor for extended <br />periods under varying weather conditions. <br />?;.,. <br />• Some experience in the operation and maintenance of inechanical and electrical <br />equipment; graduation from a standard high school or vocational school, <br />preferably supplemented by the completion of approved course work in <br />wastewater treatment. Ability to obtain a Class 1 Operators Certification as <br />issued by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. <br />• Some knowledge of the specific operations and service requirements of the major <br />items of pump and treatment plant. <br />• Some knowledge of the fundamental processes involved in the pumping, <br />treatment, and disposal of wastewater. <br />• Ability to inspect operating mechanical and electrical equipment; to detect minor <br />flaws and defects in its operation; and to effect appropriate remedial measures <br />when necessary. <br />• Ability to read meters and charts accurately and to maintain routine records of <br />shift operations. <br />• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. <br />• Ability to make mathematical computations with speed and accuracy. <br />80
