. a <br />ClFY OF KORTH OLMSTED <br />RESQLUT/QIV NQ. 95-148 <br />BY: THE MAYOR AND ENTlRE CITY COUNCtL <br />A RESQLUTION REGQGN/ZING QCTQBER AS HURtGER AWAREIVESS <br />MONTH, AND DECLARlNG AN EMERGENCY. <br />IKHEREAS, An estimated 14 milfion children die each year as a resutt of <br />hunger and starvationr and <br />WHEREAS, This Administration and Gity Council wish to increase the <br />awareness of hunger and to educate the community about the available <br />resources to combat hunger, and <br />WHEREAS, 7he month of Octoaer has been recognized historically as <br />Hunger Awareness Month; and <br />WHEREAS, This recognition provides an excellent opportunity for each <br />of us to exert leadership in an area of interest to all of our citizens, especially at a <br />time when food policies and programs for children, tlae aged and the poor are an <br />increasing problem for many of us; and <br />WHEREAS, This Administration and City Council wish to go on record in <br />support of human service programs to combat hunger and malnutrition; and <br />WHEREAS, In an effort to combat hunger, this Adminisfration and City <br />Council encourage all of our residents to assist our North O/msted Food Bank in <br />whatever way they can. <br />N04Y, 8E IT RESQLVED 8Y THE eOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OH/O: <br />SECTION 1: That it is the desire of this Administration and City Council to <br />support Hunger Awareness Month. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public heaJth, safety <br />and welfare, and further provided it receives an affirmative vote of two-thirds of <br />all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immed+ately upon its <br />passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
