? <br />City of North Olmsted <br />Resolution No. 95-125 <br />By: Mayor Ed Boyle <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING AMENDMENT BE MADE TO <br />SUBSTITUTE SENATE BILL 188 WHICH ALLOWS A TAX TO BE <br />LEVIED ON ALL RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES OF <br />CUYAHOGA COUNTY FOR THE BENEFIT OF ONE AREA. <br />WHEREAS, Subsfitute Senate Bili 188 (SSB 188) aliows the County <br />Commissioners of an Ohio County to levy a tax on all residents and businesses <br />within the county, and <br />WHEREAS, the proceeds of said tax can only be utilized for a material <br />asset contained within a limited area of that County, and <br />WHEREAS, the limited area must contain, upon enactment of SSB 188, a <br />"major league professional athletic team" defined as °National Football League, <br />Major League Baseball, or National Basketball Association Sports Franchise°, <br />and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That SSB 188 be amended to include Recreational and <br />Educational facilities within a county which includes a professional athletic team. <br />SECTION 2: That professional athletic teams include minor league teams, <br />hockey and soccer. <br />SECTION 3: That educational facilities include schools, libraries, <br />museums and ancillary building. <br />SECTION 4: That the Clerk of Council is instructed to forward certified <br />copies of this resolution to the leadership of the Ohio Senate and House of <br />Representatives upon passage.
