CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 95-109 <br />BY: THE MAYOR AND ENTIRE COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS OF THE OHIO <br />FIItE CHIEFS' ASSOCIATION, THE OHIO ASSOCIATION OF <br />PROFESSIONAL FIRE FIGHTERS, THE OHIO STATE FIRE <br />FIGHTERS' ASSOCIATION AND THE NORTH OLMSTED FIRE <br />FIGHTERS LOCAL 1267, INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF <br />FIRE FIGHTERS, TO PROMOTE AND SUPPORT CONTINUED <br />PUBLIC SECTOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE. <br />WHEREAS, the fire service is the principal provider of initial pre-hospital emergency <br />medical care in Ohio, and; <br />WHEREAS, there is an integral and efficient use of dual role, cross-trained fire service <br />personnel to provide rapid response from existing public facilities for emergency medical <br />calls, rescue calls and more traditional fire protection duties, and; <br />WHEREAS, health care reform is being actively promoted by various interests outside the <br />fire service which may radically alter the delivery of pre-hospital emergency medical <br />services thereby affecting the Ohio fire service, and; <br />WHEREAS, the private ambulance industry is undergoing significant changes including <br />the formation of large conglomerate national ambulance services in an attempt to provide <br />for-profit 9-1-1 emergency medical services, and; <br />WHEREAS, the Ohio fire service enjoys considerable public trust and satisfaction as a <br />result of the high level of care rendered from the provision of emergency medical services, <br />and; <br />WHEREAS, the leadership of the Ohio Fire Chiefs' Association, the Ohio Association of <br />Professional Fire Fighters, and the Ohio State Fire Fighters' Association have resolved to <br />meet the challenges of health care reform in the emergency medical service field through <br />mutual cooperation, and; <br />WHEREAS, the Ohio Fire Chiefs' Association, the Ohio Association of Professional Fire <br />Fighters and the Ohio State Fire Fighters' Association have resolved to urge all elected <br />officials, professional associations and health care providers to recognize and support the <br />provision of emergency medical care by the Ohio fire service;
