., <br />k <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 95-43 <br />BY: THE MA YOR AND ENTIRE CITY COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORT/NG ARBOR DAY AND EARTH DAY, AND <br />DECLAR/NG AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, In 1872, J. Sterling Morton proposed to the Nebraska Board <br />of Agricu/ture that a specia/ day be set aside for the p/anting of trees, and <br />WHEREAS, This holiday, called Arbor Day, was first observed through the <br />p/anting of more than a million trees in Nebraska; and <br />WHEREAS, Arbor Day is now observed throughout the nation and the <br />world; and <br />WHEREAS, Throughout the world, Earth Day is recognized as the <br />symbo/ of environmenta/ responsibility and stewardship; and <br />WHEREAS, This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the momentum <br />inspired by the origina/ ce/ebration of Earth Day in 1970; and <br />WHEREAS, Earth Day reinforces the dream of a hea/thy, vibrant p/anet; <br />a loving, caring world and the noblest endeavors of the human spirit. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE lT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Administration and City Council support our city's <br />forestry program and other efforts to care for our trees and wood/ands. <br />SECTION 2: That it is a/so the desire of this Administration and City <br />Council to urge all citizens to plant trees to promote the well being of present and <br />future generations. <br />.? ?,?.
