CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 95-41 <br />BY THE MAYOR AND ENTIRE CITY COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION OBSERV/NG THE DAYS OF REMEMBRANCE FOR THE <br />VICTIMS OF THE HOLOCAUST, APRIL 23-30, 1995, AND DECLAR/NG AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, The United States Ho/ocaust Memoria/ Museum was <br />mandated by Congress in 1980 to /ead the nation in annua/ Days of <br />Remembrance observances and to provide appropriate ways by which <br />individua/s, governments and organizations my remember the events of a half- <br />century ago; and <br />WHEREAS, The commemoration theme this year is "Fifty Years Ago: <br />Liberation, From Fear of Death to Fear of Life"; and <br />WHEREAS, The focus this year is a/so upon the heroic American <br />so/diers' discovery of the Nazi concentration camps and the extraordinary <br />generosity these so/diers extended to the few survivors; and <br />WHEREAS, The national civic commemoration program will focus <br />particu/ar afitention on the U.S. Army Divisions that uncovered camps from April <br />23-30 fifty years ago; and <br />WHEREAS, As Americans we must each recognize that each individual is <br />responsib/e for eterna/ vigilance against all tyranny and for speaking out against <br />such tyranny. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />C/TY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That it is the desire of this Administration and City Council to <br />observe the Days of Remembrance of the Victims of the Ho/ocaust April 23 <br />through April 30, 9995. <br />141, . 4,._ ? „?.
