<br />343.01 OPERATION WITHOUT CONSENT OF OWNER ; VEHICLE TRESPASS.
<br />(a) No person shall purposely take, operate or keep any motor vehicle
<br />without the consent of its owner. ' (ORC 4549.04 (D) )
<br />Whoever violates this subsection (a) and is not a repeat or
<br />multiple offender as defined in Ohio R. C. 4549.99 (Q) shall
<br />be guilty of a misdemeanor.
<br />(b) No person shall enter into or upon any vehicle, motorcycle or
<br />motor vehicle, the property of another person, without the
<br />consent of the owner or operator thereof.
<br />343.02 BREAKING AND ENTERING COMPARTMENT.
<br />No person shall unlawfully break and enter, or attempt to un-
<br />lawfully break or enter, the locked compartment of any motor
<br />vehicle or trailer... "Compartment " as used in this section
<br />includes all areas of any motor vehicle or trailer wherein
<br />persons or property are normally transported. (ORC 4549.041 )
<br />Whoever violates this section and is not a repeat or multiple
<br />offender as defined in Ohio R.C. 4549.99 (Q) shall be guilty
<br />of a misdemeanor.
<br />343.03 STEALING MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS ;POLICE MAY REMOVE
<br />IGNITION KEY.
<br />No person shall sa~rliciously or with intent to steal or ~:thaut
<br />authority from the owner remove from any motor vehicle any portion
<br />of the running or steering gear, pump or any tire, rim, cover, tube,
<br />clock, casing ~~adiator, fire extinguisher, tool, lamp, starter,
<br />battery, coil, spring, gas or mil tank ,bell or any signal devise,
<br />speedometer, license number, horn, box, basket, trunk or carrier,
<br />shield, hood, oiler, gauge, grease cup, chain, lock, nut, bracket,
<br />valve, bolt, rod, cap, screws, wire,. spark plug, carburetor, magneto,
<br />pipe, fan, belt, cylinder, switch, brake, electric bulbs or any device,
<br />emblem or monogram r thereon, any attachment, fastening or other
<br />appurtenance, or any part attached to such motor vehicle which is
<br />necessary in the use, control, repair or operation thereof, except
<br />that a law enforcement officer may remove the ignition key left in the
<br />ignition switch of an unlocked and unattended motor vehicle parked
<br />on a street or highway. The officer removing such key shall place
<br />notification upon the vehicle detailing his name and badge number,
<br />the place where such key may be reclaimed, hand the procedure for
<br />reclaiming such key. The key shall be returned to the owner of the
<br />motor vehicle upon presentation of proof of ownership.
<br />No person shall knowingly buy, receive or have in his possession
<br />any of such unlawfully removed articles or any part thereof .

<br />Whoever violates this section and is not a repeat or multiple offender
<br />as defined in Ohio R. C. 4549.99 (Q) shall be guilty of a misde-
<br />meanor if the value of the property involved is less than one hundred
<br />dollars ($100.00) .
