n <br /> <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 72- ~, <br />Section 1355.02 <br />COMPLIANCE REQUIRED <br />~.. <br />Vie, <br />PAGE Z <br />It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to <br />install or operate an air conditioning or air handling system <br />without first conforming to the provisions of this Chapter <br />and the Building, Electrical, Zoning Codes, General Offenses <br />Code and all applicable ordinances in the City of North Olmsted. <br />Section 1355.03 PERMIT REQUIRED <br />No air conditioning or air handling equipment system shall be <br />installed unless a permit for such installation shall have been <br />secured as set forth in Chapter 1321 of this Title. Applications <br />for such permits shall be made to the North Olmsted Building <br />Commissioner by the owner or by his agent and shall include <br />the plans and specifications of the proposed installation, the <br />location of the equipment, as to property lines, set back, re- <br />quired side and rear yard, the main building and building on <br />adjacent property. Such applications for a permit shall also <br />set forth the SRN, that is affixed permanently to the unit or <br />applicant will produce a certificate establishing that the unit <br />will emit not more than a certain SRN, and also certify that the <br />unit will operate in conformity to Section 1355.05 . <br />Section 1355.04 SCREENING <br />Tn residential areas all outside units installed shall be properly <br />screened by shrubbery or trees so as not to be visible from the <br />front property lines. Front property lines shall be defined by <br />the Zoning Code of North Olmsted. <br />Section 1355.05 PURPOSE <br />This Ordinance is designed to control loud and ob jectional sounds <br />which may be produced by air conditioning and air handling equip- <br />ment installed in or adjacent to a dwelling unit. Ground levels of <br />60 db A or less, measured as. set forth in Section 1355.08, are not <br />considered loud and objectional within the scope of this Ordinance. <br />Section 1355.06 MAXIMUM SOUND LEVEL <br />Should the Sound Level exceed 60 db A measured, by the require- <br />ments of Section 1355.08, with the equipment in operation, ad- <br />ditional measurements shall be made with the equipment not oper- <br />ating in order to determine its contribution to the Sound Level a- <br />bove 60 db A. If the difference in levels exceed 5 db with the <br />equipment operating and not operating, the equipment shall be <br />considered as contributing to loud and ob jectional sounds and <br />shall be nodified or controlled so that the difference shall not <br />exceed 5db. <br />Section 1355.07 ME~iSUREMENT OF SOUND LEVEL <br />(a) Sound level shall be measured on the " A "weighting network <br />of a Sound Level meter meeting the requirements of USA Standard <br />S1. 4-1961 of General -Purpose Sound Level Meters or latest <br />revision, (published by the United States of Amerlca Standard <br />Institute, New York, New York ), using the slow meter response. <br />The meter shall be calibrated and used according to manufacturer's <br />instructions . <br />
