<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0. 71-144 <br />BY Mr. Grady <br />A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE INTEREST <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO, <br />IN PARTICIPATING IN THE GOVERNMENT <br />INTERNSHIP PROGRAM BEING INSTITUTED <br />AT BALDWIN-WALLACE COLLEGE AT BEREA, <br />OHIO, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />~ .' <br />WHEREAS, Baldwin-Wallace College of Berea, Ohio, is in <br />the process of instituting a Government Internship Program; and <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of said program is to provide students <br />with a direct experience in the policy-formation process in urban govern- <br />ment; to provide legislative staff services to members of the City Council; <br />and to allow City Councillors, through the research and other services of <br />student interns assigned, more time and greater resources of information <br />to better deal with pressing urban problems; and <br />WHEREAS, the entire cost of the project initially will be <br />funded through the Title I Higher Education Act of 1965 with a tentative <br />starting date of January, 1972; and <br />WHEREAS, this program will be of great value to both students, <br />the administration and the Council of. the City of North Olms ted, Ohio. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />NORTH OLMSTED, 8~]~E OF OHIO: <br />Section 1. That the City of North Olmsted, Ohio, participate <br />in the Government Internship Program being instituted at Baldwin-Wallace <br />College and that the Clerk of this Council be authorized to notify Baldwin <br />Wallace College of the administration's and council's interest in participating <br />in the program. <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of this Council he and she is <br />hereby authorized and directed to mail a certified copy of this Resolution <br />to the Baldwin Tnlallace College. <br />Section 3. That this Resolution is hereby determined to be <br />an emergency Resolution necessary for the preservation of the public health, <br />safety and welfare.. of the citizens of North Olmsted.
