fi.-~ <br />r: <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 71-/.Z <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE COMPENSATION OF <br />THE MEMBERS OF COUNCIL OF THE CITY TO BE <br />ELECTED, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, Council has determined that the amount of time necessary to <br />effectively carry out the duties of the Members of Council of the City of North <br />Olmsted is increasing steadily as the population of the City is augmented by new <br />citigens moving into the City ;and <br />WHEREAS, the Finance Committee of Council has determined that the <br />compensation of the Members of Council in the City of North Olmsted should be <br />increased commensurate with the compensation paid to elected Members of Council <br />in other adjoining communities ;and <br />WHEREAS, Council has accepted the recommendations of the Face <br />Committee and hereby wishes to increase the compensation of the Members of <br />Council elected in the municipal election to be held in 1971, all in accordance <br />with Article IV, Section 6 of the Charter of the Cfty of North Olmsted. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of <br />North Olmsted, State of Ohio <br />Section 1. Council does hereby establish , for the purpose of nominating <br />and electing the Members of Council of the City and fixing the compensation of the <br />Members of Council to be elected in the mun~ipal election in 1971, that the salary <br />of the elective Members of Council to be filled in the election in 1971 shall be <br />$2,500.00. <br />Section 2. That Ordinance No. 64-230, enacted November 4, 1964, and <br />any other ordinance or parts of ordinances in conflict with this Ordinance is hereby <br />repealed as of the effective date of this Ordinance. <br />Section 3. That th~:Clerk of Council is hereby declared to forward to <br />the Board of Election a certified and conformed copy of this Ordinance. <br />Section 4. That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure and such emergency exists by virtue of establishing the salary 30 days <br />in advance of March g ,19 71 and the nece s sue: _ of notifying the Board of Election s <br />of Cuyahoga County of the salary of the Members of Council to be filled under the <br />provisions of this Chart+~Frin the November elction of 1971, in order for said Board <br />of Elections to establish the filing fees for the office of Members of Council, which <br />filing date expires March 5 , 19 71. WHEREFORE, this Ordinance shall take effect <br />and be in force immediately upon its passage, otherwise, at the earliest period <br />allowed by law. <br />PASSED: <br />ATTEST: <br />Nora'-T.
