CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION No. 70-.~,~ <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN <br />APPLICATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANS- <br />PORTATION, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, FOR <br />A GRANT UNDER THE URBAN MASS TRANSPORTATION <br />ACT OF 1964, AS AMENDED, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, The Secretary of Transportation is authorized to make <br />grants for mass transportation pro3ects; and <br />WHEREAS, the contract for financial assistance will impose <br />certain obligations upon the applicant, including the provision by it <br />of the local share of project costs; and <br />WHEREAS, it is required by the U. S. Department of Transporta- <br />tion in accord with the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act <br />of 1964, that in connection with the filing of an application for <br />assistance under the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as Amended, <br />the applicant give an assurance that it will comply with Title VI of the <br />Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the U. S. Department of Transportation re- <br />quirements thereunder: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY the Council of the City of <br />North Olmsted, State of Ohio: <br />Section 1. That the Mayor of the City of North Olmsted is <br />authorized to execute and file an application on behalf <br />of the City of North Olmsted with the U. S. Department of <br />Transportation to aid in the financing of the purchase of <br />new equipment for the North Olmsted Municipal Bus Line in <br />order that the same may thereafter operate more efficiently <br />and better serve the communities of North Olmsted, Fairview <br />Park and Olmsted Falls. <br />Section 2. That the Mayor is authorized to execute and file <br />with such application an assurance or any other document <br />required by the U. S. Department of Transportation effectuat- <br />irg the purposes of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. <br />Section 3. That Ralph E. Christman, Mayor of the City of <br />North Olmsted, is authorized to furnish such additional <br />information as the U. S. Department of Transportation may <br />'require in connection with the application or the project. <br />Section 3. This Resolution is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of <br />public peace, health and safety, the emergency being the need <br />for improvements and additions to the North Olmsted Municipal <br />Bus Line, and as such this resolution shall take effect and <br />be in force immediately upon its passage by Council and approval <br />by the Mayor, provided it receives the affirmative vote of two- <br />thirds of all members elected to Council; otherwise it shall <br />take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period <br />allowed by law. <br />PASSED: ~Of1,~jQ <br />ATTES <br />/~y~ ,~ <br />Nora T.
