..~ ~~: <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 73- ~~ <br />B Y:_~~ .e~_ <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING ALL MUNICIPALITIES <br />AND ELECTED OFFICALS OF NORTHERN OHiO TO <br />HELP PREVENT ANY FURTHER RUNWAY EXTENSION <br />AT CLEVELAND HOPKINS AIRPORT. <br />WHEREAS, the General Service Administration of the Federal Government <br />is planning to award the Cleveland Tank Plai~tand the surrounding acreage to the <br />City of Cleveland ;and <br />WHEREAS,: said Plant and acreage is in an adjoining. community ; and <br />WHEREAS, the United States Government has established two governmental <br />agencies known as 1) Environmental Prptection Agency and 2) Federal Aviation <br />Administration ;and <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of North Olmsted is of the opinion that as <br />elected officials, it is their duties to uphold the rights, health, welfare and safety <br />of the general public. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of North <br />Olmsted, State of Ohio <br />Section 1. That Council of the City of North Olmsted hereby consents to <br />aid the City of Brookpark in opposing the extension of airport runways at Cleveland <br />Hopkins Atfport and further resolves to ask the assistance of all elected officia s <br />in all municipalities of NorthernsjOhio, in the State of Ohio and the Unites States <br />of America to : <br />1. Stop the expenditure of any further money for construction or extension <br />of any runways at Cle!~land Hopkins International Airport. <br />2. Request that if construction or extension of runways cannot be stopped <br />before any further money is allocated to the City of Cleveland for any <br />such work, that a public hearing be held by the involved agencies, and <br />that an environmental impact statement and report be made available to <br />all parties concerned. <br />3. Request that communities adjoining Cleveland Hopkins Airport be notified <br />of any request by the City of Cleveland for funds for extension of any <br />reunways . <br />4. That the Clerk of Council shall forward a copy of this Resolution to each <br />of the following persons <br />Governor John J. Gilligan, <br />Sheldon Clark, E.P. A. , <br />Mayor Ralph Perk , <br />Rollie Hein, Federal Aviation Administrati on , <br />Gongressman James Stanton, <br />Gongressman William Minshall, <br />Senators, William Saxbe ; Robert Taft, Jr. ;Ronald M. Mottl, <br />State Representative James P. Celebrezze, <br />Cleveland Ward 33 ,Councilman George Blaha, <br />Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives ; <br />A. G. Lancione, <br />Lt . Governor john W . Brown , <br />George Forbes, President of Cleveland City Council and entire <br />Legislative body of the City of Cleveland. <br />
