<br />,, <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 73- ~~ <br />BY: ~~t~tJ ' <br />A RESOLVTION PETITIONING THE HONORABLE <br />GOVERNOR TORN J. GILLIGAN TO PROVIDE FULL <br />AND COMPLETE ~ HEARINGS CONCERNING THE <br />CLEVELAND ELECTRIC ILLUMINATING COMPANY <br />AVON-RICHFIELD EXTRA HIGH VOLTAGE TRANS- <br />MISSION LINE IN THE VICINITY OF THE BRECKS- <br />VILLE AIR NA~t'IGATION FACILITY TO ASSURE THAT <br />THESE LINES WILL NOT PROVIDE A NAVIGATION <br />HAZARD. <br />WHEREAS, the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company has proposed <br />construction o£ a 345, 000 volt intercity electric ~nnsmission line between Avon <br />and Richfield, Ohio ;and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed route of said Avon-Richfield transmission Iine passes <br />within 2500 feet of the FAA air traffic control radar and communication equfprnent <br />known as the Brecksville Air Navigation Facility which is used to control alI aircraft <br />flying aver the northern half of Ohio and portions~of other states and Canada ; and <br />WHEREAS, there is a question whether or not the close proximity of an extra- <br />high voltage transmission line to the air navigation facility could reduce its effective- <br />ness under certain conditions tfitereby endangering the lives of those flying in aircraft <br />controlled by the facility and those living beneath them. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of North <br />Olmsted, State of Ohio <br />Section 1. That the Honorable Governor of Ohio is hereby petitioned to take <br />whatever action is necessary to investigate the Avon-Richfield transmission Iine to <br />insure that there will be no possibility of increased hazard to the people of Ohio . <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby directed to certify <br />and transmit copies of ttl~sResolution to the Honorable John j, Gilligan, Governor <br />of Ohio, and the President of the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company, Mr. Karl <br />Rudolf. ~ <br />Section 3. WHEREFORE, this Resolution shall take effect and be in force <br />at the earliest date permitted by Article IV, Section 12 of the Charter of the City <br />of North Olmsted. <br />PASSED; .!~' <br />ATTEST: <br />'~ <br />Nora T.
