ate., <br />"?° <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />1~ESOLUTION N0. 73-7 <br />~Y: Mrs. Saringer <br />A RESOLUTION URGING THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF CLEVELAND TO PASS LEGISLATION <br />THAT WILL BRING ABOUT SOME CONTROL ON <br />THE USE OF NON RETURNABLES OR DISPOSABLE <br />BEVERAGE CONTAINERS FOR THE CITY OF <br />CLEVELAND. <br />WHEREAS, the City of. Cleveland is studying the feasibility of <br />passing ordinances pertaining to non-returnable or disposable beverage <br />containers; and <br />WHEREAS, the Environmental Control Committee of Council of the <br />City of North Olmsted has advised Council that non-returnable or disposable <br />beverage containers are detrimental to the environment of the City of North <br />Olmsted and any other community; and <br />WHEREAS, the Environmental Control Committee of Council has <br />recommended that the Council of the City of North Olmsted urge the Council <br />of the City of Cleveland to pass legislation that would bring about some <br />control by the City of Cleveland of the non-returnable or disposable beverage <br />containers which will greatly benefit the environment of the City of Cleveland <br />and also set guide lines for other communities such as North Olmsted to follow. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />North Olmsted, State of Ohio: <br />Section 1. That the Council of the City of North Olmsted <br />urges the Council of the City of Cleveland to enact legislation at its <br />earliest convenience. That all non-returnable or disposable beverage <br />containers are detrimental to the natural environment of the City of Cleveland <br />and the suburbs surrounding Cleveland, and that the sale and use of the said <br />non-returnable or disposable beverage containers should be discouraged <br />immediately. <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council is hereby directed to <br />send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Clerk of Council of the City <br />of Cleveland urging Council of the City of Cleveland to act upon the,a€~bre- <br />mentioned at their earliest convenience. <br />Section 3. WHEREFORE, thks"Resolution shall take effect and <br />be in force at the earliest date permitted by Article IV, Section 12 of the <br />Charter of the City of North Olmsted. <br />PASSED: ~~~ <br />ATTEST: <br />Nora T.
