? <br />. .ao+ <br />.. ,, .?. <br />CITY OF 1VORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 69-6"/ <br />337.16 NUMBER OF LIGHTS PERMITTED ; RED AND <br />FLASHIIVG LIGHTS. <br />( a) Whenever a motor vehicle equipped with headlights is also <br />equipped with any auxiliary lights, or spotlight, or any <br />light on the front thereof projecting a beam of an intensity <br />greater than 300 candle power, not more than a total of five <br />of any such lights on the front of a vehicle shall be lighted <br />at any one time when such vehicle is upon a street or high- <br />way . <br />( b) Any lighted light or illuminating device upon a motor vehicle, <br />other than headlights, spotlights, signal lights or auxiliary <br />driving lights, which project a beam of light of an intensity <br />greater than 300 candle power shall be so directed that no <br />part of the beam will strike the level of the roadway on <br />which the vehicle stands at a distance of more than seventy- <br />five feet from the vehicle. <br />( c) Flashing lights are prohibited on motor vehicles, except as <br />a means for indicating a right or a left turn, or in the presence <br />of a vehicular traffic hazard requiring unusual care in approach- <br />ing, or overtaking or passing. This prohibition does not apply <br />to the use of a flashing, oscillating or rotating amber light on <br />emergency vehicles, road service vehicles servicing or towing <br />a disabled vehicle, traffic line striper, snow plows, rural <br />mail delivery vehicles, State Highway survey vehicles, <br />funeral escort vehicles and similar equipment operated by the <br />Ohio Department of Highways or local authorities, nor to <br />vehicles or machinery permitted by Section 337.19 to have <br />a flashing red light. <br />( d) Except a person operating a public safety vehicle, as defined <br />in Section 301.43, or a school bus, no person shall operate <br />or move upon any public street or highway any vehicle or <br />equipment which has a flashing red or a flashing combination <br />red and white light, or any vehicle or equipment which has an <br />oscillating or rotating red light or a combination red and white <br />oscillating or rotating light. This Section shall not prohibit the <br />use of warninglights required by law or the simultaneous flashing <br />of turn signal on disabled vehicles. ( ORC 4513.17 ) <br />Section 2. That any ordinance or parts of ordinances, or resolutions <br />or parts of resolutions inconsistent with theprovisions of this Ordinance, and <br />especially Ordinance No. 65-310, enacted December 21,1965, are hereby re- <br />pealed with the effective date of this ordinance. <br />Section 3. That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an <br />emeregency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public <br />peace, safety, health and welfare by virtue of the fact that Section 337.16 <br />prior to this amendment is in conflict with the provisions of the State Statutes. <br />WHEREFORE, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately <br />upon its passage; otherwise, at the earliest period allowed by law. <br />PASSED: /q?p9 <br />ATTEST: <br />?
