O. <br />r <br />MO. <br />o"" JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE HELPER <br />Nature of Work: This is a semi-skilled and limited <br />skilled work in construction, repair, <br />and general maintenance of plant equipment, machinery, facilities, <br />and grounds at the municipal wastewater pumping stations and <br />treatment plant. Work involves responsibility for assisting in the maintenance and <br />repair of equipment, machinery, and related appurtenances at the <br />wastewater pumping stations and treatment plant; other duties <br />include acting as a relief operator and performing building <br />maintenance and custodial duties when required. Usually main- <br />tenance work is performed under the immediate supervision of an <br />employee of a higher classification. Assignments are determined <br />?- by breakdowns of machinery and equipment; however, routine work <br />is performed with little direct supervision. Technical assist- <br />ance is readily available for help on unusual or difficult <br />problems. Work is viewed through inspections and by observations <br />of results. <br />Examples of Work: Loads and unloads heavy materials from <br />truck; moves and assists in moving <br />heavy machinery and equipment. <br />, <br />'?- Performs general building and grounds maintenance and custodial <br />tasks including painting; shoveling snow and repairing windows <br />when required. <br /> Assists in the maintenance and repair of plant machinery and <br />? equipment; such as, pumps, chlorinators, and chemical feeders; <br />? installs and replaces new gauges and pressure switches on panels <br /> when necessary. <br />? <br />Operates electric pumping station in emergencies; inspects <br />?- pumping station as required for proper operation when required. <br /> Assists operators and mechanics in the operation and repair of <br /> pumping stations and treatment plant. <br /> May be assigned to operate pumping station or treatment plant <br />? <br />..,, on assigned shift for relief or emergency situations. <br /> Occasionally operates light automotive equipment, such as trucks, <br /> <br />•?. front end loaders, and tractors. <br /> Subject to 24-hour call during emergency situations. <br /> <br />i <br />?
