CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0. 81-65 <br />BY: YVONNE PE'T"RIGAC <br />o.? <br />A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THAT PORTION OF SENATE BILL <br />448 DEALING WITH THE EXTENSION OF THE INCREASE IN <br />SALES TAX THAT PROVIDES FOR THE ELIMINATION OF A <br />ONE PERCENT (lo) VENDORS ALLOWANCE FOR THE COLLECTION <br />OF THE SALES TAX, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, prior to January 1, 1981, vendors who collected <br />sales tax for the State of Ohio were given a one percent (1%) <br />allowance for collecting said sales tax, and <br />WHEREAS, said one percent (lo) although it did not provide <br />sufficient funds for the reimbursement for clerical work, it did <br />provide some method of partial:xeiznbursement to merchants, and <br />WHEREAS, this Council would like to go on record opposing <br />that portion of Senate Bill 448, which extends the elimination of <br />the one percent (Io) vendors allowance in that the elimination of <br />said allowances is inequitable. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLA4STED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That this Council does hereby collectively oppose <br />that portion Senate Bi11 448 presently pending before the Ohio <br />Senate which would extend the elimination of the vendors allowance <br />of one percent (_lo) which prior to January 1, 1981, was allowed to <br />vendors collecting the- Ohio State Sales Tax for the State of Ohio. <br />SECTTON 2: That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to <br />Senator Paul R. atia, Senator Gary C. Suhadolnik, State Representative <br />James Petro, and State Representative Rocco J. Colonna. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the <br />public health, safety, and welfare, and for the further reason that <br />the Senate Bill presently pending is anticipated to be voted upon <br />prior to June 30, 1981, and further provided it receives the affirma- <br />tive vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall <br />take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval <br />by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: <br />ATTEST: v <br />, <br />fo <br />F RENCE CA PBELL, CLER F CQUNCIL DE EY .
