CITY OF NORTH OLMSTFD <br />RESOLUTION N0. 81 - 57 <br />BY: MRS. PETRIGAC <br />A RESOLUTION URGING THE CONGRESS OF THE <br />UNITED STATES TO REFRAIN FROM INSTITIJTING <br />BUDGET CUTS REGARDING FUNDS FOR YOUTH <br />DELINQUENT AND DIVERSION PROGRAMS AND THE <br />SAMF TO BE KEPT IN THE FEDERAL BUDGET, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AS AMF.NDED. <br />WHEREAS, it is the understanding of this Council that the <br />proposed budget cuts promulgated by the President of the United <br />States would include budget cuts in the area of Youth Delinquent <br />and Diversion Programs, and <br />WHEREAS, this Council would like to go on record indicating <br />that the money nresently funded for those tynes of programs is <br />of great benefit, not only to the citizens of the City of North <br />Olmsted but to the citizens of the United States in general, and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to voice its <br />objection to the Congress of the United States that there be <br />properly budgeted sufficient amounts of money for Youth Delinauent <br />and Diversion Programs. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, <br />COUNTY OF CUXAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECITON 1: That this Council does hereby go on record as <br />opposin? any?get cuts with respect to monies for the funding <br />of Youth Delinquent and Piversion Programs. <br />SECTION 2: That this Council directs the Clerk of Council <br />to send a copy of this Resolution to the United States Senate, the <br />House of Renresentatives, and more specifically, to Congressman <br />Ronald Mottl, and Senators John Glenn and Howard Metzenbaum. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the <br />nublic health, safety and welfare and for the further reason that <br />the Congress is presently in session deliberating on said budget. <br />PASSED: ? ?an <br />-T <br />ATTEST: <br />LORENCE E.
