CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0. 81 - 36 <br />BY: MRS. SARINGER AND MRS. PETRIGAC <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING HOiJSE BILL NUMBER 63, <br />WHICH IS PRESENTLY PENDING BEFORE THE HOUSE <br />OF REPRESENTATIVES TO LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF <br />PHOSPHATES IN HOUSEHOLD DETERGENTS, AND DE- <br />CLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North 0lmsted has heretofore adopted <br />legislation limiting the amount of phosphates in household detergents, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is the belief of the City of North Olmsted that <br />said legislation has greatly reduced the amount of nhosphates enter- <br />ing into the sewer systems of the City of North Olmsted, and <br />WHEREAS, it is the belief of this Council and the Administra- <br />tion that the reduction in the amount of phosphates and household <br />detergents is a matter of State-Wide concern and thus should be <br />controlled on a State-Wide basis. <br />NOtiN, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby urge the Ohio <br />Legislature to adopt House Bill Number 63 which will greatly aid <br />in the protection of the natural resources of the State of Ohio. <br />SECTION 2: That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to <br />State Representative James Petro, State Representative Rocco Colonna <br />State Senator Paul Matia, State Senator Gary Suhadolnik, State <br />Representative Edward Hughes of Mentor, Ohio, and Committee Chairman <br />Thomas Gilmartin. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the <br />public health, safety and welfare, and for the further reason that <br />House Bill Number 63 is presently pending before the House of Represent- <br />atives, and futher provided it receives the affirmative vote of two- <br />thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take effect and be <br />in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the D4ayor. <br />PASSED: <br />?I? 6 • ? 1 <br />F RENCE CAMPBELL, CiZERK 0 COUNCIL D?
