ARTICLE 19 - HOSPITALIZATION <br />Section 1. The City shall pay the full amount of <br />hospitalization costs for all full-time employees and their <br />dependents with either Blue Cross and Medical Mutual <br />(Traditional, Preferred Care or HMO) or the Kaiser Community <br />Health Plan, or other comparable commercial health programs. Any <br />other commercial plan obtained by the Employer shall provide <br />benefits that are at least equal to or better than the current <br />health care plan. <br />Section 2. By agreement of the parties the City shall <br />provide the above coverage from July 19, 1989 thru July 18, 1990. <br />Thereafter, during the 2nd year of the contract if the cost of <br />hospitalization (Traditional Blue Cross) exceeds 15% or $344.75 <br />per month, per employee, of the prior yearly cost, (299.79 X 15% <br />_ $344.75) then the contract shall be reopened for the purpose of <br />reaching agreement on the subject of hospitalization only. <br />Additionally, during the third year of the contract, if the <br />cost of hospitalization (Traditional Blue Cross) exceed 15% or <br />$396.47 per month, per employee of the prior yearly cost ($344.75 <br />X 15% _ $396.47) then the contract shall be reopened from the <br />purpose of reaching agreement on the subject of hospitalization <br />only. <br />Section 3. If the City seeks to reopen Article 19 during <br />the second and third year of the agreement, it shall notify the <br />Union in writing and delivered by certified U.S. mail not later <br />than September 1 of each year, of its desire to modify Article <br />19. The postmark date shall control the issue of timeliness. <br />- 25 - <br />
