ARTICLE 13: UNPAID SICK LEAVE <br />Section 1: a regular full-time employee who has completed <br />his probationary period and who has exhausted his sick leave <br />shall be granted a leave of absence without pay for a period not <br />to exceed six (6) months for a continuing disability which is <br />substantiated by credible medical evidence. If the illness or <br />disability continues beyond six (6) months, an additional six <br />month sick leave may be requested. Employees must submit proof <br />acceptable to the City of his ability to perform the work of his <br />job upon the termination of the sick leave. Any dispute as to <br />the ability of an employee to perform the work of the job shall <br />be determined pursuant to the medical examination procedure in <br />Article 16, Section 3. <br />ARTICLE 14: UNION LEAVE <br />Section 1: Upon written request from the Union, a leave of <br />absence without pay shal l be granted to not more than three ( 3 ) <br />employees for a period of not in excess of ten (10) days per year <br />each (fifteen (15) days per year in which an employee attends the <br />convention of the International Union), for the purpose of <br />attending Union conventions or other Union activities which <br />necessitate a suspension of active employment. Additional <br />absences for Union business may be permitted as conditions <br />permit, having in mind the volume of work. <br />20 <br />
