9.3. All vacation time shall be paid at the regular salary <br />rate, except when employee requests vacation credit accumulation. <br />For the purpose of calculating vacation pay, when vacation <br />accumulation is requested by employee, the salary rate at the time <br />such accumulated vacation was requested shall be used to calculate <br />vacation pay. If, due to scheduling, vacations cannot be taken <br />subsequent to the year such vacation was earned and are <br />accumulated and taken in the next subsequent year, the rate of <br />vacation pay shall be at the rate of pay during the year such <br />vacation is taken, provided the same is approved by the Director <br />of Public Safety. <br />`:: <br />9.4. In all departments, vacations must•be~scheduled with <br />and~suthori~ed by the department head. Schedules are to be <br />.coordinated so as not to disrupt necessary City services or <br />functions of the department. - '~ <br />. ARTICLE X <br />LUMP ,~I1M PAYMENT <br />10.1. Any employee, at the time of his retirement, may elect <br />to receive all benefits due him in one lump sum payment. <br />10.2. Any employee who submits in writing in the year 1989. <br />that he has selected the lump sum payment pension option, shall <br />upon his retirement receive all benefits entitled to him as of the <br />1989 Contract, and they will be protected from loss due to any <br />future contracts. ~~ <br />- 11 - <br />
